What is it like to work here?

Chemring is a very diverse environment. We take what we do very seriously – the safety and protection of others is in our hands and our products make the world safer, protecting those who are tasked with protecting us all.

Our locations are geographically spread and each has its own history. We celebrate that and enjoy that each facility is that little bit unique. That said there are some common themes to working at Chemring.

We work to design, manufacture, develop, understand and support high tech detection systems, countermeasures, energetic products and technology services. Our work supports what may or may not happen in the future – from insurgent threats in hostile environments, to missions to Mars. Our customers rely on us to provide protection and development for factors as yet unknown.

Our Emerging Leaders Programme is at the forefront of developing our future talent and those who are selected come from across our business, representing a variety of functions.

Our Chemring business is highly diverse, which means we have plenty of opportunities for graduates and apprentices. Our colleagues work in diverse environments across the globe, with skill sets ranging from scientists, engineers, technicians and operators to deep functional experts in areas such as health and safety, people and technology.

Over the past year, Chemring has welcomed over 40 graduates across our UK business units and 15 apprentices into multiple disciplines. From graduate programmes to undergraduate internships and degree apprenticeships, there are many ways Chemring develops and supports colleagues and future colleagues at the start of their careers.

To Chemring UK Early Careers Programme is designed to help graduates and apprentices build the foundational skills needed to succeed in the workplace. Alongside the practical and technical skills our apprentices and graduates learn within their placements, our Early Careers Programme teaches self-management and professional skills, wider customer and product knowledge, and how to develop your personal brand.

With Chemring, you’ll learn a breadth of new skills and gain valuable experience to help you achieve your career aspirations. From the start of your placement, you’ll be supporting live customer and business projects. You’ll also learn about the whole of the Chemring Group and network with colleagues who are at the starts of their professional journey through our Early Careers Programme.
