The week brings together businesses and apprentices across the UK to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses, and the wider economy.
In 2021, Chemring welcomed over 40 graduates across the UK business units and 15 apprentices into multiple disciplines. From graduate programmes to undergraduate internships and degree apprenticeships, there are many ways Chemring develops and supports those at the start of their careers.
Furthermore, we recently launched our Early Careers Programme, which has been designed to help graduates and apprentices build the foundational skills needed to succeed in the workplace.
We met with Chemring Learning and Development Lead, Chloe Partridge, to find out more about the programme and the benefits to both individuals and Chemring as a whole.
Explains Chloe, "The idea behind the programme is to create what we call a 'T shaped professional'. What we mean by that is, the vertical part of the letter 'T' is the technical skills graduates and apprentices learn at a local level, and the horizontal part of the 'T' are the early career skills learnt on our programme. These are things like self-management, inter-personal and professional skills, wider customer and product knowledge from across Chemring, and how to develop your personal brand."
Continues Chloe, "One of the most important and valuable aspects of the Early Careers programme is being part of a community of colleagues who are in the same boat as you. It enables members of the cohort groups to connect across the different businesses and gain that broader exposure to the entire organisation whilst sharing skills and knowledge with peers."
If you're just setting out on your career path, we have several programmes to support you through the next stages of your career. These range from graduate roles to apprenticeships and placements.
You'll learn a breadth of new skills and gain valuable experience to help you achieve your career aspirations. From the start, you'll be supporting live customer and business projects. You'll also learn about the whole of the Chemring Group and network with fellow apprentices as part of our Early Careers Programme.
