Since Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022, more than 5 million people have fled Ukraine, and another 7 million have left their homes to escape the conflict, leading to a huge humanitarian crisis. Heavy fighting, shelling and airstrikes across the country have had devastating consequences for civilians. Donations from all over the world are helping to provide food, water, shelter, healthcare, and protection.
Chemring colleagues from across the organisation have pulled together to fundraise and donate to support this humanitarian crisis, with Chemring matching all money raised.
Local fundraising
The team at Chemring Countermeasures USA (CCM USA) in Pennsylvania did a donation drive and held a raffle to win a day’s Paid Time Off (PTO). In total, they raised $1,037, which has been donated to the General Fund of the Bank of Ukraine to offer humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians affected by the conflict.
The team at Chemring Nobel in Norway held a bake sale to raise money for Ukrainian humanitarian aid. As a result, NOK 8,915 was raised with all the cakes baked by several talented colleague bakers.
Chemring Energetic Devices (CED) recently formed the Women of CED group, who organised a raffle raising a fantastic $1,660.
Donations of specialist equipment
Chemring Technology Solutions (CTS) recently donated equipment to the Friends of Ukraine EOD Charity to support Ukrainian EOD operators.
CTS donated a range of readily available specialist equipment to help with the disposal of explosives and munitions in Ukraine. The equipment included initiators, firing cables and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) tools for Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) disposal tasks.
Delivering supplies
Chemring Countermeasures UK (CCM UK) supported their colleague and Production Engineer, Bartlomiej Bolek, who volunteered, in his own time, to drive supplies to Poland to support the Ukrainian humanitarian effort.
Explains Bart, “The supplies collected have been donated by the local community, coordinated by the Polish Community Club in Southampton.
“The HR team also shared news of my trip and organised a local cake sale to support humanitarian aid for Ukraine. It felt amazing to be part of the multi-national wave of humanitarian support.”
Thank you to all Chemring colleagues for supporting the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis.
