This Armed Forces Week we’re recognising the positive impact that sport, and the community around sport, has on our Armed Forces.
Chemring sponsors the Army Cricket team as part of our ongoing commitment to support the Armed Forces and those Chemring colleagues who have served.
Last month, the Army Cricket Men’s team took part in the launch day for the 2024 cricket season at Tidworth. The day saw the Men XI and Men Dev XI play in a Tri match format with a strong London Youth Academy team.
Whether played at the grassroots or representative level, sport matters to our Armed Forces. It prepares soldiers for operations by enhancing physical fitness, mental resilience, leadership, and teamwork. Sport also plays an important part in Army life, from recruitment and retention to increased public visibility.
The Army Cricket Association (ACA) serves as the governing body for cricket within the Army and has two principal, equally important, purposes. First, to provide the Army’s best cricketers with the opportunity to achieve success at the highest level of the domestic game, stretching their individual and collective ability and raising the Army’s profile. Second, to encourage the broadest participation in cricket at all levels, promoting cricket from the grassroots up, running the inter-Corps and inter-unit competitions and enabling community engagement.
