To mark the end of Armed Forces Week, colleagues at Chemring Countermeasures UK are undertaking a charity bike ride to support the Royal British Legion Industries.
The Royal British Legion Industries is a national veterans charity supporting the Armed Forces, people with disabilities, and unemployed people. They work tirelessly to improve lives every day by inspiring those they help and supporting them to find work and lead independent lives.
At Chemring, we are proud of our continued support and commitment to the Armed Forces Community and once again our colleagues from Chemring Countermeasures UK (CCM UK) in Salisbury, are showing their support, donning their Lycra, and taking part in the epic Ride with a Veteran challenge, to raise money for the Royal British Legion Industries.
The ride starts in Aylesford, Kent with two full days of riding, finishing at the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, Belgium, covering a whopping 173km over the two days.
In 2023, a team of eight colleagues completed the ride. In 2024, we have another twelve riders from across the business taking part. The team is being led by Andy Hogben, CCM UK Managing Director.
“Having visited the RBLI village earlier this year and seen first-hand the work they do, it is fantastic to be able to support such a worthy cause. This year as we remember the 80th anniversary of D-Day it will be particularly poignant as we visit war cemeteries in France and Belgium, with the humbling privilege to be riding with numerous veterans some with life changing injuries.”
It’s an amazing effort by all those taking part, not just our colleagues from Chemring, raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.
