This week is World Wellbeing Week, which celebrates the many aspects of wellbeing, from meaningful, purposeful work to financial security, physical, mental and emotional health, social resilience, community relations, and care for the environment. Wellbeing has never been so important to our lives and livelihoods.
Throughout this World Wellbeing Week, we’ll be sharing some of the activities going on across Chemring that celebrate and prioritise wellbeing in all its guises.
Starting the week, we’re focusing on community wellbeing and giving back, with examples of charity fundraising at two of our Chemring sites.
Community wellbeing
At our Chemring Countermeasures UK (CCM UK) and Chemring Energetics UK (CEUK) sites in Salisbury and Ardeer, colleagues have marked World Wellbeing Week with charity bake sales.
Not only are these events a great social opportunity to get colleagues together and enjoy some cake and conversation, but they also offer the chance to raise some essential funds for others in need.
Chemring colleagues at CEUK were invited to a bake sale organised by the colleague Wellbeing Forum. Together they raised money to share between their four chosen charities – Ayrshire Cancer Support, Hillhouse, No-one Dies Alone, and The Underheugh Ark.
Ayrshire Cancer Support offers support to all those affected by cancer in Ayrshire, delivering a wide range of services free of charge to cancer patients and their families.
Hillhouse supports individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, offering practical support by supplying good quality second hand children’s clothing, footwear and equipment, free of charge.
No-one Dies Alone provides compassionate care to people in the local community who are alone and dying.
The Underheugh Ark is an animal charity based on the West Coast of Scotland that rescues various animals, from dogs, cats, and horses to rabbits and hamsters.
At our CCM UK site in Salisbury, colleagues held a bake sale to raise funds for a veterans’ charity called Alabaré, based locally to the facility in Salisbury. Alabaré provides specialist care and support for Armed Forces veterans who are struggling with life outside the military.
The team at CCM UK also held a quiz night to raise money for another key charity, the Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI). RBLI is a national veterans charity that supports the Armed Forces, people with disabilities, and the unemployed.
