CHEMRING NOBEL APPOINTS GEIR HÅØY AS NEW CHAIR OF BOARD

Chemring Nobel, Chemring’s Norwegian subsidiary, is pleased to announce the appointment of Geir Håøy, former CEO of Kongsberg Gruppen, as the new Chair of its Board. He will assume this role on 1 July 2026, taking over from Sarah Ellard who has been Chair of Chemring Nobel since 2019 and who has announced her intention to retire from Chemring Group in 2027. Chemring Nobel extends its sincere thanks to Sarah for her invaluable contribution and commitment to the company.

This appointment comes as Chemring Nobel enters its most significant growth phase in decades. The company is significantly expanding capacity at its Sætre site and is currently working with the Norwegian Government on a feasibility study into the establishment of a new production facility to help meet Norway’s, Europe’s and NATO’s growing demand for advanced military explosives.

Geir Håøy is one of Norway’s most experienced defence-industry leaders. He joined Kongsberg Gruppen as a systems engineer in 1993 and served as CEO from 2016 until stepping down earlier this year. He led the group through major acquisitions, international expansion and a decade of growth. He brings the experience and strategic insight to guide Chemring Nobel as it scales up, along with an ability to navigate stakeholders across the Norwegian industrial and political landscape. Both will be a significant strength for Chemring Nobel and for Chemring Group as a whole in the years ahead.

Michael Ord, Chief Executive of Chemring, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome someone with Geir Håøy’s experience to lead Chemring Nobel’s Board. His industrial leadership and strategic insight will be a significant asset as the business scales up to meet the critical needs of our allies. I am certain that he will make a strong contribution to the continued development and progress of Chemring Nobel and its critical role in NATO’s defence industrial base, and I look forward to working together.”

Geir Håøy added:

“I am truly looking forward to joining Chemring Nobel as Chair of the Board. Working closely with the Chemring Nobel management and the Group executives will be a privilege, and I am excited to contribute to the company’s continued growth and strategic development."
